When Walking With God Changes Your Family

Scripture

"Do not suppose that I have come to bring peace to the earth. I did not come to bring peace, but a sword... Anyone who loves father or mother more than me is not worthy of me."Matthew 10:34, 37

Reflection

Following God is beautiful, but it is not always comfortable.

Sometimes we imagine that obedience will automatically repair every relationship. Yet throughout Scripture we see faithful men and women misunderstood by those closest to them. Even Jesus was rejected by members of His own hometown, and many of His followers experienced division within their own families because of their faith.

Losing closeness with family is painful. It is okay to grieve that loss. God never asks us to pretend it doesn't hurt.
